Those of you familiar with the long-running series Doraemon　[Official site], would know that it's about a cat-robot (named Doraemon) from the future who comes back in time to help a loser kid (named Nobita) shape up to be a better person, so that his family won't be riddled with misfortunes and debts for generations to come.
The original design for Doraemon was sort of a stout, snowman-ish figure with white and blue colorings. He was supposed to be a yellow cat-styled nannybot until his ears were chewed up by a mouse, which gave him a permanent fear of mice, and a blue color since his yellow paint job was corroded off from the sheer horror.
The series has a lot of iconic items and situations ... like a desk drawer that's has a portal to a time machine, for example.

So my sick mind starts running ... "nannybot" .... "maidbot" .... A maid robot from the future! Yeah! If a maid just suddenly appeared from my desk drawer, that would be awesome!

(Just to make excuses, I'm not the first one to think of this idea by a long shot. A quick google search turned up dozens of people with variations on the same idea.)
